Brazilian duo wins 2 Grand Prix in 2 categories with 2 different pieces of work in a span of 2 days

Winning 2 Cannes Lions Grand Prix with totally different pieces of work is quite a unique accomplishment – probably it’s not ultimately unique, but still. And because Ad I Like likes Hugo Viega and Diego Machado (who didn’t get up until 1.30 pm today due to “jet leg”) from AKQA São Paolo, we decided to showcase their winning work here.

The first one is the video Bluesman, from Stink Film São Paolo and directed by Douglas Bernhardt, which won a Grand Prix in the Entertainment for Music category (together with Childish Gambino’s video “This is America”).

And the second one was Air Max Graffiti Stores for Nike in the Media category. Have a look, indulge yourself, learn from the Brazilian masters – these are ‘ads’ we truly like.

Hugo Veiga and Diego Machado rank among the world’s most-awarded copywriters (Hugo) and art directors (Diego), and scooped a record 23 Lions for five different projects at the 2013 Cannes Lions Festival. Their work for Dove Real Beauty Sketches garnered Latin America’s first Titanium Grand Prix that year. Here’s an interview with the fellas in Lürzer’s Archive.
